Participants will:

  • Understand key environmental and climate concepts relevant to schools
  • Connect curriculum content with SDGs and the Green Deal
  • Design age-appropriate climate and environmental projects
  • Engage students in inquiry, data collection and community action
  • Plan partnerships with local stakeholders (municipalities, NGOs, etc.)
  • Develop a realistic climate action plan or project for their school

Day 1 – Why green education, why now?

  • Introductions and sharing of school experiences
  • Key concepts: sustainability, SDGs, climate literacy
  • Mapping existing activities and gaps in participants’ schools
  • Inspiration from successful school projects
  • Reflection: our school’s green vision

Day 2 – From curriculum to real-world projects

  • Integrating environmental topics across subjects
  • Inquiry-based approaches to local environmental issues
  • Group work: identifying potential project themes
  • Drafting initial project ideas
  • Feedback and prioritisation

Day 3 – Designing student-led climate action

  • Giving students a meaningful role and voice
  • Planning data collection, experiments and actions
  • Tools and apps for citizen science and monitoring
  • Group work: building detailed project plans
  • Reflection: equity and inclusion in green projects

Day 4 – Partnerships, communication and community impact

  • Working with local authorities, NGOs and businesses
  • Designing communication strategies and events
  • Storytelling and visibility for student projects
  • Group work: adding partnership and communication elements
  • Sharing and feedback

Day 5 – Whole-school strategies and sustainability

  • Embedding climate action into school culture and policies
  • Linking with eco-labels, networks and international projects
  • Drafting a school climate action roadmap
  • Peer consultation on plans
  • Identifying resources and funding opportunities

Day 6 – Consolidation and closing

  • Recap: key principles of impactful green projects
  • Presentation of participants’ project roadmaps
  • Planning possible Erasmus+ collaborations on green education
  • Evaluation, Certificates of Attendance and closing activity
  • Optional short nature-based activity (where possible)
